Selecting objects

To perform a task with a particular object or objects, you first select the objects. For example, to delete an object, you select the object and press Delete.

To select	Do this
A single item	Click on the item's name
A range of items	Click anywhere outside of the items' names and drag until the marquee selects the range of items
All items in a window	Choose Select All from the Edit menu
Add or remove an item from a selection	Hold Shift while selecting the item selection
To deselect the current selection	Click anywhere in the window except in an item's name
